Defensa y Justicia achieved an important victory in Florencio Varela by defeating Central Córdoba 2-1 at the Norberto “Tito” Tomaghello Stadium, in the third round of the 2025 Apertura Tournament, belonging to Zone A.
Colombian Luis Angulo opened the scoring for the visitors, but forward Gastón Togni, with a double, secured the victory for the "Halcón de Varela" and ended the unbeaten run of the "Ferroviario."
From the start, Central Córdoba displayed their aggression and it was midfielder Iván Gómez who generated the first dangerous action with a angled shot that forced a great intervention from goalkeeper Enrique Bologna. However, Defensa y Justicia managed to settle into the match and had the clearest chances of the first half. The team coached by Pablo de Muner went for more.
At 34 minutes, following a great play by defender Lucas Ferreira, Togni found himself in a perfect position inside the box and sealed his double to secure the victory for the Florencio Varela team.
With this win, Defensa y Justicia reached the second position in the Apertura Tournament with 6 points, tying with Racing. Meanwhile, Central Córdoba dropped to fourth place with the same number of points, but with a lower goal difference.
